Study using GeoTeric to analyse igneous-sedimentary relationships in the Faroe-Shetland basin.
The authors use these attribute methods to evaluate the sedimentary source (e.g. volcanic ash, weathered lava or sediment input from outside the volcanic system) and depositional pathways in order to gain a better understanding of the providence of this type of high risk target. Although this study is directly relevant to GeoTeric users with exploration interest in the Faroe-Shetland basin and other basins with extrusive geology, the author’s method of interpreting depositional pathways against palaeostructure using seismic imaging techniques is applicable to a wide variety of geological terranes and exploration environments.
