IFC+ Interactive Facies Classification

ffA has today announced the release of another ground-breaking technique within its GeoTeric® offering; IFC+.

IFC+ offers the interpreter an advanced method of Seismic Facies classification in a rich multi-attribute environment. IFC+ utilises a sophisticated attribute distribution model, which provides the ability to detect subtle trends, to enable very precise differentiation of different facies classes.

IFC+ brings together the power of interactive data driven – interpreter guided classification with the ability to clearly visualise geology using GeoTeric’s RGB blending techniques. With the IFC+ the interpreter can quickly and easily separate trends in the data that are not immediately apparent on visual inspection of the data. IFC+ also supports a hierarchical approach to classification allowing detailed interrogation of the data at multiple scales.

Dr Gaynor Paton, Director of Geosciences said, “This announcement marks the second release in the GeoTeric suite in 2013. We are constantly striving to give interpreters the best possible interpretation tools. IFC+ is yet another innovation based on our data driven, interpreter guided method for optimising interpretative decision making by bringing together the objectivity of mathematical analysis and the experience of the geoscientist”.

IFC+ is another element of GeoTeric which is making intuitive, real-time interpretation of the 3D morphology of geological elements imaged within seismic data a reality; greatly adding to developing the in-depth understanding of the subsurface required for increased confidence in well planning.”
